Things I love Thursday....on Sunday :)

Let's just jump right into the things I love this week with the number one thing..... our new little baby Beauregard!! He's definitely been a handful which is why this week's T.I.L.T is on Sunday. It's also why this week is dog themed!!

First a few more pictures of my handsome little man :)

Thing number two is an adorable dog bed....that Beau will probably never have because it's a little girly but I still love it!!

(Photo from Etsy)
The shop this bed comes from has other patterns so maybe he'll get one of the less feminine ones later. Still love it though :)

Thing number three is this adorable personalized pail! I've been wanting some kind of bucket to put all of Beau's things in and I love this one!!

(Photo from Etsy)
This may be a bit overboard for a puppy but really we don't have kids yet so why not? :)

Ok fourth and final thing I love for this week are these collars

(Photo from wholesalepet.com )
I think we're definitely gonna get Beau one of these once he's bigger but there's a debate going on between us about what the collar should say. You can get them personalized so of course I wanted to put Beau on the collar but my wonderful husband wants to put Simons....hmm what to do.

We obviously love our little man and all the adorable things we can get him :) Hopefully this week I'll be able to get my list up by Thursday!!!

Things I Love Thursdays!

It's Thursday!! That means one day closer to the weekend, it's almost Halloween, Ga/Fl is THIS WEEKEND and I get to tell you about what I love this week :)

While I tried to think of things for a Ga/Fl themed T.I.L.T I couldn't really narrow it down....I mean between the football, the food, the drinks, the beach and of course the adorable dresses there were just too many choices...so I decided to stick with 3 things I've been enjoying lately.

The number 1 thing this week is Pumpkin frozen yogurt! I enjoyed this little treat last night (but of course I forgot to take a picture) and it was just so tasty! I added whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon to make it taste like fall. I think adding some kind of graham cracker (like in the picture below) would have made it even more delicious!
(Photo from brandeating.com)

Another bonus...it's nonfat! Well before whatever scrumptious toppings you add :)

The second thing I love this week is The Help by Katherine Stockett. I know everyone has heard about this book and maybe even seen the movie....but I've been a little behind in my book reading. When I was getting ready for our D.C. trip a few weeks ago I knew I needed a book for the plane and after hearing all these great things about The Help I picked it up.
(Photo from iwastoldtheredbecake.wordpress.com)
The book definitely lived up to the hype. I was constantly reading it trying to get to the end so I could see how it all turned out...and I was not disappointed....the story has a great ending. Now I just have to see the movie!

Alright thing number 3! This thing is also a book, or I guess books. I read this series this past winter and when I was thinking about things that I love and I thought about The Help it made me think about other books that I really enjoyed reading. I automatically thought about this series by Nora Roberts.
(Photo from missblondiexoxo.blogspot.com)
It's called the Bride Quartet series, and I'm sure I was drawn to it at the time because I was planning a wedding, but I think it's a great series for anyone. I read the third book first because it's what they had at the airport when I was picking a book, but if you read them in order then you won't ruin the surprise for yourself.

So there you have it that's this week's T.I.L.T....not so much filled with football but hopefully still enjoyable!

Oh and here's a link just for you Chris...hope this answers your questions

Things I Love Thursdays!

Hellooo Thursday!

This week's T.I.L.T is inspired by alll the christmas shopping/looking I've been doing this week. I like to get a jump start on my shopping so I'm not scrambling at the last minute to find good deals.

First thing I love is of course Etsy! I've gotten so many things from Etsy for gifts and for our wedding. Here are just a few things I've seen during my search for Christmas gifts!

(Photo from etsy)

(Photo from etsy)
Etsy has so many amazing things to choose from...you could probably get all your shopping done on one website!

Alright thing number 2! This sweatshirt is something that's actually on my christmas wish list....its from Anthropologie. It looks super comfy but while I was writing this I realized it's no longer available online :( Fingers crossed maybe it will come back or maybe I'll make it to Anthropologie sometime soon!!!
(Photo from anthropologie)
The final thing I love is this new product from Philosophy! We got some Philosophy shower gel as part of a wedding present and it was amazing!!! This could make a great stocking stuffer and if you don't like this scent they're always coming out with new ones for each season!

Hope this T.I.L.T gave you some great ideas of where to shop for unique gifts for the most wonderful time of the year!!

Christmas wooden letter project!

I love Christmas! So it was no surprise when I started working on decorations and ideas in the middle of September! I love things that are monogrammed so of course I had to have something for the holidays that included some of our initials. I ended up painting a "S" that we can display anywhere during the holidays. This project was super easy but since I did it over a month ago I don't have 100% detailed pictures.

So here's what you'll need...

Blue painters tape
Red and green acrylic paint (I used Calico red and Fresh Foliage)
Paint brush
Wooden letter (White or natural in color)
Clear, matte spray paint
Ribbon
Picture/plate stand

The first thing I did was tape off my letter with stripes and also along the edges. This allowed the paint to not go onto the sides of the letter and for my lines to stay straight and even (for the most part ). This took about 3 coats to get the color where I wanted it.

The result was a green, red and white striped letter

After letting the paint dry all the way I took my letter outside and put it on some newspaper. I then used my clear spray paint to seal the paint onto the letter. This did give my letter a little shine and if you want more you could always use gloss spray paint instead of matte.

After letting the paint dry I tied a bow onto the letter with ribbon that coordinated. Then propped it up on a picture stand and ta da you've got a cute decoration for the holidays!!

Things I Love Thursdays!

Hello all! So things have been crazy for the past two weeks and they're not slowing down at all anytime soon! We're about to leave for D.C. for a wedding and a fun weekend so our whole house is turned upside down! With that in mind this weeks Things I Love Thursdays is a little bit shorter with only one thing!

Keeping in mind the changing seasons and the cool weather that will hopefully soon blow into the area i thought this week I would make this video the thing I love! I first saw this on The Jones Design Company blog and I thought it was great!!

Hope you enjoyed that cute little video and I'll be back next week with some pictures of my craft projects!!!

Things I Love Thursdays!

Helloooo!!! It's time for the second Things I Love Thursdays!!!!

The first wonderful "thing" are the most amazing silicone bag ties from Target!

(Photo from Amazon.com)
We got them as a wedding gift from the lovely Ashley and they've been so great! They make a great gift and they work really well. They're less bulky than keeping a drawer full of normal chip clips and they're super durable. Just go here Silicone Ties to find out more!!!

Alright moving on! The next item also makes a great gift. It's a personalized stamp! Sounds kinda lame at first but really its amazing!

(Photo from hiptoclipcoupons.blogspot.com)
The stamps come from Three Designing Women and they have all kinds. You can get a stamp with your address which makes for easy return addressing, or you can get one with a cute saying for your business or family, or just your monogram.

They're are so many options and colors they're bound to have something for everyone! Let me just say our stamp has been a lifesaver throughout the whole thank you note process!!

(Photo from allrecipes.com )
Now to the final Thing I Love....it's actually a recipe that's cooking in my crock pot as I write this!! It's a super easy recipe for a very delicious pot roast!!

My mom made the most amazing pot roast for us when we were younger and I've been trying for years to find a great recipe that tasted similar. I finally found one a few months ago! It's apparently a very basic recipe and one that shows up in a ton of cookbooks! Go here Allrecipes.com to check it out!!

Hope you've enjoyed my second T.I.L.T!!!!

Try these not so healthy, but very yummy dishes!!

I wanted to share two recipes I found on Pinterest that I tried this weekend!

The first one is a three cheese pasta bake from myrecipes.com

This was so delicious!! It makes a ton so I may cut the recipe in half next time. We added grilled chicken to ours like one of the comments suggested and it turned out great!!

And here it is....

Not quite as fancy but just as delicious!

Ok next dish!! For our Sunday morning breakfast I made a Blueberry Buttermilk Breakfast Cake from Alexandracooks.com

This recipe was a little more complicated than the first, and it took almost an hour to bake (in our not so efficient oven) rather than the 35 minutes the recipe says....but it was well worth the wait!!!!

These two recipes are definite winners!!! Check back later this week because hopefully I'll be starting my first try at making a wreath!!

DIY Dry Erase Board

Happy Friday!!! So I found this super easy and incredibly useful project on Pinterest. I tried to do something similar to this my freshman year of college but just a little tip....plastic and dry erase markers don't really mix! You have to use glass :)

Here's the board I saw on Pinterest from Make and Takes.

I made a few alterations to mine....for instance I put strong magnets on the back so that way I could attach it to our refrigerator so when I realize we need something from the grocery store I can jot it down so I don't forget!

Alright here are the super easy steps to create your board!!

You'll need:
A picture frame with glass
Scrapbook paper or fabric
Magnets (I used 6)
Gorilla glue or hot glue
Dry erase marker

First open the back of the frame and put your paper of fabric inside the frame. I was able to find a frame that fit the paper perfectly! I also got 3 different pieces of paper. 2 for the holidays and 1 that matches our kitchen colors. I'm not in love with some of the paper but a trip to hobby lobby this weekend might fix that!

Next, apply glue to the backs of the magnets and stick them where you want on the back of the frame

After waiting a little bit for the glue to dry you've got yourself a dry erase board!!!

I'll put up a new picture after my trip if I find some cuter scrapbook paper. Be prepared for a ton of posts with my DIY projects after I buy out hobby lobby this weekend!! Also, I'll be trying two new recipes this weekend so keep your fingers crossed for me that they turn out well!!!

Things I Love Thursdays!

Instead of making a post every two seconds about finding something I love and want to share I figured I'd give it a dedicated day! So the "things" may be recipes, craft ideas, decorations, or other random thoughts. Today there are three things I lOvE!!

First is using an old rake as decoration or as an organizational tool....or both! I stumbled upon this idea while cruising around Etsy. We've actually had it in our house for about a month or so and I think it looks great!! We're using it to hold jackets or hats or whatever would've ended up on the floor if we didn't have our handy rake to hold them :) I've also seen people use rakes to hold jewelry or as a key rack...I've also seen them used to hold wine glasses!!

There are a few for sale on Etsy right now but I'm sure if you rummage around your local junk store you might get lucky!! Here's ours!!!!

Next thing!! It's in my genes to use old things around the house as decor so it's no surprise that I love these little guys!!

They're actually old architectural stars that I picked up a few years ago while I was vacationing with my family in one of the most wonderful places, Apalachicola, FL. The store where I got them is called The Tin Shed. They've got a great website and will even ship some of their items to you, but if you can I'd visit in person :)

However, if you really love the stars, like I do, you could probably find them online. I found a few on Etsy, of course, but they were painted....which isn't bad but it just depends on what you like. You could use the stars to hang on the wall or maybe under a candle or just place them around anywhere! One thing that really helps though is to put round felt pads on the ends of each point...this just helps protect your walls or furniture.

Alrighty...last thing! We all love coffee I'm sure, but it's expensive and you don't always want to leave your house to drive and go get it. That's why I love cafe mocha kcups for the Keurig!

We got our Keurig as a wedding gift and we love it! I'm addicted to Starbucks mochas, and while the mocha kcup isn't nearly as strong it's a great alternative for your home. I would have loved to have one in college since those single serve instant coffee packets weren't really that tasty. They make smaller less expensive keurigs so there might be one in your budget. I'm also looking forward to trying the pumpkin spice kcups!!! Yumm!!!!

Hope you enjoyed the first T.I.L.T! I'm going to put up my dry erase board DIY tomorrow. Happy Thursday!!!!

Sweet tea and Scrumptious burgers

Last night as we were cooking dinner and I realized I had two great recipes I wanted to share!! One is my Dad's super easy and super sweet tea recipe. This is a really easy way to make tea and it's just as great as any tea you can buy. I know sweet tea is kind of a no-brainer but seriously I don't know if I ever would have figured out how to make it strong enough and sweet enough every time without these directions.

So first....you need
2 Cups sugar
4 Family size tea bags
1 Gallon pitcher

Start out by boiling 1 quart of water on the stove. Once it comes to a boil take it off the heat and place 4 tea bags in the pot. Let the bags sit for 5 minutes, occasionally dipping them up and down.

After 5 minutes pour what you have in the pot into your pitcher. Then fill the pot back up with hot water and let the 4 tea bags sit in that water for another 5 minutes. Pour the second pot of water into the pitcher and fill the pitcher up the rest of the way with hot water. While you're filling the pitcher up pour in your two cups of sugar and stir. Stir the tea until you see that your sugar has dissolved. At this point the tea is hot but you can taste it to see if it's sweet enough for you. Then ta-da you've got yourself a gallon of sweet southern tea!!!

Ok now for the burgers! The recipe for these burgers is one my husband found a few summers ago and we've been making them ever since!! They're called basil burgers and they're an easy way to give your burgers tons of flavor!! Here's the link to the basil burgers! It's from a great website that allows you to change the serving size to customize your recipe! After a few hiccups in our plan we finally had our delicious burgers and some sweet southern tea to wash them down!!

Either tomorrow or Friday I'm going to attempt to make an adorable dry erase board I found online!! Fingers crossed!!!

New Beginnings

Hello all! Since I'm living in a brand new place and newly married I thought I'd blog about all my adventures, projects, and experiences! I've been a college grad for almost 5 months, married for almost 4, and living 5 hours away from any friends and family in my new home in Florida. The last 4 months have been a whirlwind....from getting married, going on our honeymoon, moving into our new home, finding a job and then deciding it wasn't for me, and finally embracing my new role as a housewife things have been a little bit crazy!!

I've been trying to find something to keep me busy during the day while my husband is at work and since I LoVe all things handmade and antique I've decided to try to challenge myself to make the things I would normally buy from Etsy....which I'm obsessed with!!!

So I hope I can show everyone some creative ideas and maybe entertain you with my life as a housewife!
